Little attention has been devoted to the topic of commercial diplomacy, defined as the application of diplomacy to help bring about specific commercial gains through promoting exports, attracting inward investment and preserving outward investment opportunities, and encouraging the benefits of technology transfer. The spectrum of actors in commercial diplomacy ranges from the high-policy level (head of state or prime minister to ambassador) and the lower level of specialized diplomatic envoys like trade representative, commercial attaché or commercial diplomat. This volume focuses on how to organize diplomacy to support international entrepreneurs. It takes an interdisciplinary perspective, combining the fields of business administration and public administration, more specifically international entrepreneurship and international relations. This is the first interdisciplinary book that extensively explores the organization of diplomacy for international entrepreneurship at the micro level: the diplomats' and individual entrepreneurs' perspective.

As the world economy emerges from the financial crisis, critics are announcing an end of the American era. The United States is said to be in an inexorable decline, and the expectation for the 21st century is for China to eclipse America and for the contours of global governance to blur. The loss of America's preeminent status will undercut our sway abroad and our safety and standard of living at home. But is America really done? Is the American era really over? In this provocative account, based on interviews with senior policymakers and cutting-edge research, Kati Suominen argu

The crisis facing the United States is both economic and political, and its effects are felt both at home and abroad. The author presents a detailed look at how the present world order is or could be affected by a total global economic collapse. He asks whether a world governance system is feasible and desirable, and explores what forms such a system might take, depending upon whether such players as China, the Russian Federation and the Islamic nations continue to make economic progress or suffer setbacks.

Today's international trade is radically more complex. The revolution in information and communication technologies fostered an internationalisation of supply chains which created a nexus between trade, investment, and services which is at the heart of so much of today's international commerce. The degree of recent change has created an uncertainty that now demands new global trade systems - a new set of rules for the new environment. This book tackles some of the unresolved issues in international trade that will continue to press into the next decades. Covering an array of topics critical to today's scholar, economic policy designer and business leader, the book International Trade from Economic and Policy Perspective is comprised of four sections: International Trade Theories, Trade Patterns, Government Policies and International Trade, and Business Perspective of International Trade.
